Be Your Own Date is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of the information you submit to us. This Privacy Policy sets out how and why we collect any personal information about you, and how we use that information.

Contact Forms

Information collected via any contact form is only used to communicate with you regarding your enquiries. No one else receives this information. 

Newsletter

When you sign up for the mailing list, your name and email address are kept by our mailing list provider, Intuit Mailchimp, for the purpose of sending news, updates and marketing material via email. 

We collect your email address only if you provide this information voluntarily. This may occur, for example, if you sign up to receive an email newsletter, blog posts by email, leave a comment, or enter a promotion. We will use your email address only for the purpose for which you have provided it. You may opt out of such email communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in the footer of the email.

Analytics 

We use Google Analytics and Squarespace Analytics to track anonymous usage data. Information is collected through the use of cookies and is used only to analyse website performance, and this gives information on page views and website traffic. You can turn off cookies at any time by modifying your browser's settings.

Affiliate Links

Our Site may contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. This means we may receive a small commission if you buy from the linked websites, at no extra cost to you.

Cookies are used by various plugins and scripts on our Site in order to provide information about website visitors (analytics), to keep track of cookie consent/denial, and by various social media sites when we embed content from them. 

By using this Site, you consent to the use of such cookies and the sharing of data captured by such cookies with third-party partners.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
We do not share names or email addresses sent via contact forms with any other party. 

If you sign up for the mailing list, our mailing list provider, Intuit Mailchimp, will have your name and email address. 

Google Analytics only retains information about visitors, pages viewed, etc. Google Analytics and Squarespace Analytics do not collect any information that could identify you personally (but they could collect data around the web in various forms and aggregate it, so see further information below to manage that data). 

Data collected by social media companies become part of the data that each collects, please refer to their specific privacy policies.

Squarespace itself does not share any data with anyone. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

HOW YOUR DATA IS PROTECTED 

We use the Squarespace platform to keep our Site and data secure. 

We use Cliniko’s cloud-based practice management software, including scheduling, for our coaching services (scroll down for more information).

When we contract with third parties, we require that they have appropriate security, privacy, and confidentiality measures in place to ensure that your personal information is kept secure.

Whilst we do not personally keep any data on any visitors, some plugins that we use may keep your data. These plugins are all GDPR-compliant and have provided detailed privacy information:

WHAT DATA BREACH PROCEDURES ARE IN PLACE

If the mailing list is ever compromised, we will notify every subscriber and let them know what data was breached, to the best of our knowledge. 

ADDITIONAL RIGHTS OF EEA (EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA) RESIDENTS 

If you are a resident of a country in the EEA, you have the rights, among others, to:

i) access your personal data 

ii) ensure the accuracy of your personal data

iii) the right to have us delete your personal data

If you believe that our processing of your personal information infringes data protection laws, you have a legal right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority responsible for data protection. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13

Compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

This Site is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under the age of 13 may provide any information to the Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on this Site or on or through any of its features/register on the Site, make any purchases through the Site, use any of the interactive or public comment features of this Site or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen or user name you may use. If we learn that we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

By using this Site, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this Site, following the posting of changes to this policy, will be deemed as your acceptance of those changes.

COACHING SERVICES

Be Your Own Date Ltd provides coaching services online for individuals and groups. We use Cliniko, third-party practice management software, to arrange and conduct appointments online for discovery calls and coaching sessions (using the integrated video/telehealth feature), manage invoicing and contracting, and manage electronic client notes and records. All video calls are secured with end-to-end encryption, though please note that no video conferencing software or platform can provide absolute security. 

Cliniko is designed to meet the data protection regulations of GDPR, Australian Privacy Principles, PIPEDA and HIPAA. All information given will be stored securely.

You can ask for a copy of your client records, held on Cliniko, by sending an email to info@beyourowndate.com. You will receive a response within 28 days.

CONFIDENTIALITY

I understand that discretion and confidentiality are extremely important to my clients and I take great care to provide a safe and confidential service within the limits of the law. In line with my professional ethics and conduct, if I have concerns about your welfare or someone else’s welfare, I will endeavour to discuss this with you in the first instance to agree on a course of action with you. I will always make every effort to discuss any concerns with you in a video call or by phone, and will normally only contact a third party as a last resort.

I will not release my notes, emails or any documents you have sent to me without your written agreement or if required by law.

For clients for whom I am in agreement for a 1:1 coaching programme, I request contact details of your Next of Kin in case of an emergency. By signing an agreement (Coaching Commitments) with me, you agree that I may contact your Next of Kin in the unlikely event that I am very concerned about your wellbeing and am unable to gain sufficient assurance from you that you are seeking appropriate help.

If your employer is paying for your 1:1 coaching sessions, I will not normally release any information to your employer other than to confirm the number and/or dates and times of sessions that have been attended, unless we have agreed on this in writing.

If we are working together in a group coaching partnership, I may feedback on information that you have shared with me with the rest of the group – this will be anonymously and in the format of general themes or issues, rather than as information attributable to you personally. Please ask me before sharing information with me if you are unsure.

In my coaching supervision, I will use your first name only if I am discussing you with my supervisor.

GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION

By signing your Coaching Commitments, you agree that it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. All parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes and we will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
